JOB DESCRIPTION Communications Manager
Duration: Permanent, Full-Time Exempt Position
Reports To: CPAH’s Executive Director
Salary Range: $62,000- $68,000 opportunity for bilingual pay differential

About CPAH
Join us at Community Partners for Affordable Housing (CPAH) and be part of a team dedicated to supporting our growing organization, serving over 500 households in rental housing in Washington County and SW Portland and another 100 participants who are exiting homelessness. This position will support CPAH’s ability to develop and maintain high-quality affordable housing while providing a range of resident services for youth, seniors aging in place, people exiting homelessness, working families, and some of our most vulnerable neighbors. CPAH is dedicated not only to ensuring equitable access to housing, but also to building a team that reflects the diversity of our residents and represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. Position Summary
The Communications Manager is an important member of the CPAH team, providing strategic direction, guidance, and management for organizational communications and outreach that advances CPAH’s mission, impact, and equity approach. This position will be responsible for developing a communication strategy/framework and infrastructure, both internally and externally.
Essential Functions:
- Develop all communication planning documents for CPAH.
- Plan and produce periodic marketing documents, newsletters, social media updates, and website management with staff input. Ensure organizational information is up to date. Help to lead the planning of focused events including ground breakings, openings, and staff and board gatherings.
- Serve as primary contact for members of the press, writing press releases, responding to inquiries, and maintaining relationships. Maintain press clips file.
- Assist with other requests for visits and information from elected officials and interested community members.
- Serve as an advisor to and partner with the Executive Team on internal and external communication initiatives.
- Serve as an advisor to and partner with the Housing Team as they move forward with outreach as part of the development process.
- Partner with fundraising staff to design, develop, and implement effective communication strategies and messaging for different audiences; work with agency to successfully tell resident stories.
- Establish organizational communication style-guide with an equity focus, including practices that address ‘othering’ language from historical and cultural perspectives. • Take ownership for the development and implementation of a cohesive brand identity.

Minimum Qualifications
To be successful as our Communication Manager, you will need to meet the minimum qualifications and commit to building an inclusive work environment.
- Proficient project management skillset paired with ability to foster and manage strong relationships, lead collaborative processes, and build infrastructure within a diverse and complex non-profit.
- Excellent written, verbal, and digital communication skills.
- Excellent Knowledge of MS Office and G-Suite (Google) products and platforms. • A high level of emotional intelligence, ethical standards, and storytelling acumen. • Exposure to graphic design concepts, principles, elements, and applications. • Proficiency with digital and non-digital communication technologies and resources. • Familiarity with social media content development across various platforms. • Familiarity with website management (currently in WordPress).
- Willingness to stay current with design and communication tools and trends. • A background that includes navigation of sensitive content.
- Experience with designing and disseminating culturally relevant media. • Demonstrated passion for CPAH’s mission.Education and/or Experience: Position requires a B.A. or B.S. degree and 3+ years of direct experience in the fields of communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably in the non-profit sector.
CPAH will also accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Unique Job Conditions
Requires some (<10%) participation in evening and weekend meetings and events. We offer a flexible work environment, which will include the opportunity to work from home part-time. The duties of the job are primarily performed in an office environment.
