The VHA is seeking an Accounting Tech 2 – Cash Management to perform a variety of technical accounting duties in support of general accounting programs including cash management and other accounting functions. Incumbents may be asked to perform various job functions that may cross over into different specialties depending on the department need.

What you’ll do

  • Reconciles VHA bank accounts on a monthly basis, including operating accounts, investments, and reserves.
  • Monitors interest income and expense and makes recommendations to maximize positive cash flow. Analyzes variances and reports results.
  • Monitors and records online bank transactions daily.
  • Processes and records miscellaneous office deposits.
  • Verifies information for accuracy, records deposits, and monitors monthly subsidies.
  • Works closely with various financial institutions to establish, maintain, transfer and/or close accounts. Monitors VHA daily cash status, compiles expenditure data, assesses needs, and coordinates with various financial institutions to ensure the VHA remains in a positive cash status. Alerts Finance Director of pertinent issues regarding assigned accounts including short term cash needs. Forecasts shortages and recommends solutions.
  • Analyzes VHA investments and makes investing recommendations in accordance with established Investment Policy.
  • Processes various wires, transfers and other banking transactions.
  • Establishes, monitors, and records automated payments for bonds, loans and other expenses.
  • Prepares residual and replacement reserve draw requests and submits to HUD or other funders for approval.
  • Prepares Bills and Claims Report.
  • Establishes and maintains various cash reports and schedules.
  • Assists with vendor setup.
