Home Forward is seeking an Assistant Property Manager. The Assistant Property Manager supports Home Forward’s strategic and operational objectives in the following ways:
Coordinate and perform property management duties designed to ensure maximum occupancy, successful residency, program compliance, and resident self-sufficiency.
Duties are performed under the direction of property manager, during regularly scheduled hours, and include property, administrative, and office duties such as interim and annual reviews, income calculations and verifications, tenant notifications, leasing and pre-screening, move-in and move-out processing, front desk and ongoing tenant communications, meetings, data entry, file creation, and ongoing database updates.
In this context, the incumbent in this position will collaborate with others at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders in the consideration of significant goals, concepts, initiatives, and other activities that profoundly affect Home Forward, its employees, and the people that it serves.
This position will be located at our Bud Clark Commons property. The Bud Clark Commons is a public partnership between the City of Portland, Home Forward and Transition Projects, Inc. (“TPI”) to create a 90 bed men’s shelter, a community resource center with programmatic services and 130 units of permanent supportive housing, all targeting the most medically vulnerable and chronically homeless citizens of our community. It is located at NW Broadway and Hoyt Street in Portland, OR. Through public funding sources, Home Forward develops and manages the entire project. Transition Projects is responsible for the services within the men’s shelter and the day access center.

Compensation starts at $24.27 per hour; AFSCME employees whose regular work assignment is at the Bud Clark Commons will receive 5% premium pay in addition to their base wage. Home Forward provides wonderful and competitive benefits, including (please see the benefits tab for full details):

Education & Experience Guidelines
Education and Experience Guidelines:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Two (2) years of combined education and related experience, with at least 1 or 2 years of experience in one of the following areas:
Working in the affordable housing field
Property Management experience
Social service experience
OR a relevant Bachelor’s degree.
Other relevant experience considered:
Navigating government regulations
Administrative support
Customer Service
Additional Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Environment:
Duties are performed in a public housing site, and involve day-to-day interactions with public housing clients in an office and apartment complex.

Incumbents require sufficient mobility to work in a public housing office setting and operate office equipment; sit for extended periods of time; perform repetitive motion of hands and wrists. Must also have sufficient mobility to complete inspections.
Vision:
Vision sufficient to read small print, computer screens and other documents.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Receives direct supervision from the Property Manager.
