What is theHousing OregonAwards Gala?
The Housing Oregon Annual Awards Gala celebrates our members, elected officials, and partners who have been fighting for affordable housing. The gala also raises money to continue our important work in member support, policy, and advocacy. Mix, mingle, and connect with 500 nonprofit directors, local, regional, state and federal policy makers, affordable housing advocates, industry executives and experts, banking leaders, elected officials, and many others. The Gala includes a sit-down dinner and awards ceremony to celebrate local and statewide accomplishments in housing opportunity and community development over the past year, including our annual Legislative Champion award and Industry Awards.

Housing Oregon’s Annual Awards Gala is first and foremost an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the amazing efforts of the many staff, leaders, volunteers, and projects from affordable housing CDCs across Oregon. We invite you to consider nominating individuals, organizations, projects, and/or programs.
Star Player Award
Recognizes the outstanding contributions one individual within a voting member organization has made over the course of the previous year.
Golden Hammer Award
Honors a multifamily rental project that best shows the ideals of affordability, quality of design, livability, community revitalization or service integration.
Strides for Equity Award
Recognizes the many different ways our members across the state embrace diverse populations in their communities and ensure that prosperity is a tide that lifts all boats.
Gretchen Kafoury Award – Fearless Advocacy – Significant Impact
As a fearless activist as well as an elected official who always stood up for what is right, Gretchen Kafoury had a profound and lasting impact on our state and its people. This award will honor an individual, organization or endeavor that had a significant impact in the past year on affordable housing, community development and/or social justice in Oregon
Steps to Success Award
Honors an outstanding resident services and/or asset building program that effectively improves the lives of low-income families or individuals.
Golden Key Award
Honors a homeownership project completed in the past year that best demonstrates the ideals of affordability, quality of design, livability, community revitalization or service integration.
Asset Champion Award
Honors an organization whose asset/portfolio management program best demonstrates the ideas of long-term planning, improving asset performance, maximizing asset value, saving money on project and portfolio level, and proactive problem-solving.
Gala FAQ
You may pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard) or check. If by check, please register, choose “Invoice Me” and an invoice will be emailed to you. Send a check to Housing Oregon, PO Box 8427, Portland, OR 97207. For individual registrations, please be sure to note participant name on check. For table of ten note it’s for table registration.
Our menu for the Gala includes both meat, fish, and vegetarian/vegan options, which you’ll need to select in the registration process. Options include:
- Grilled Chicken with Chimichurri Sauce, Rice Pilaf, and Seasonal Vegetables.
- Sautéed Prawns with Pesto Sauce, Rice Pilaf, and Seasonal Vegetables.
- Vegan/Vegetarian: Smoked Portobello Mushroom with Pesto (no-cheese), Stewed Tomatoes, and Warm Naan. Feta Cheese on the side.
If seeking accommodations, there are a limited number of onsite rooms available at a discounted rate. No. The Annual Awards Gala and Industry Support Conference are separate events. To register for the Industry Support Conference, please visit the registration page.
Dress code is Portland gala formal. People generally wear outfits from business casual to cocktail attire. Men are most often in suits, and women are most often in slacks & blouses, work dresses, or cocktail dresses.
The Hilton Portland Downtown, at 921 SW 6th Ave, is easily accessible by car, bike and public transportation. It is on the downtown transit mall with nearby Max stops for the red, green, blue and orange lines. Nearest parking for an hourly fee is Fifth Taylor Garage at the Duniway Hotel, 525 SW Taylor St. or Smart Park Garage at SW 4th and Yamhill (818 SW 4th Ave), or Fox Tower at 775 SW Taylor St. Hilton valet parking is located at their SW 6th Ave. entrance near SW Salmon St. corner. There is also metered street parking available.
