BUILDING A SAFETY NET FOR HOMEOWNERS: OHCS’S EQUITY-CENTERED, COLLABORATIVE APPROACH AND VISION

Room: Mt. St. Helens Room

Tracks: Homeownership, Equity and Racial Justice, Advocacy & Policy

Wednesday, Sept. 28 10:15 am – 11:45 am PDT

Session Description: OHCS seeks to not only create pathways to homeownership, but to build a safety net so that homeowners can stay, thrive, and build intergenerational wealth through their home. By providing a continuum of support, we hope to eliminate Oregon’s vast racial disparities in homeownership. However, this will take data-informed, equity-centered programs and large scale cross-sector collaboration to get there. During this workshop, OHCS will share recent data, program updates, and examples of ways that we are growing our Homeownership programs to intentionally address racial disparities. We will also facilitate interactive activities to gather feedback, examples. and ideas from participants to help us work towards a collective long-term vision of helping Oregonians buy and stay in their homes.
