Workshop is free and open to everyone

Housing Oregon is relaunching the Resident Services Peer Support Group starting of with a workshop to help make sure everyone is counted in the 2020 census.

The Census 101 workshop is an introductory course in what you need to know about the 2020 Census. Learn what the Census is and why it is important. Understand the timeline and process of the 2020 Census, and how this Census is different from the last US Census. Trainers are with We Count Oregon, a state-wide community-based effort to increase the participation of hard-to-count populations in the 2020 Census.

Educating and engaging residents of affordable housing communities is an important component to ensure hard-to-count communities are included. Your staff can post info in community meeting rooms and answer residents’ questions about the census. Staff can ensure census workers are able to get into locked apartment buildings. We can all help raise awareness and answer questions with undocumented residents that its ok to respond to the census.
