Brian Hoop, Director, Housing Oregon

Thanks for the many warm greetings I’ve received as I step in as the new Director of Housing Oregon, the statewide membership-based organization of affordable housing and community development voting-member organizations and supporting business and government agencyaffiliate-members. It is an honor and privilege to work with you as we advance our mission to ensure all Oregonians have a healthy and stable place to live.

There are many opportunities and challenges ahead for all of us. We have two critical affordable housing ballot measures to pass on November 6 – statewide Measure 102 and Portland Metro area Measure 26-199(see story)– and numerous State legislative priorities to determine with our partners before the start of the 2019 session. And thanks to all who either attended and/or helped make our recent Annual Awards Gala and fall Industry Support Conference a success.(See story.)

I will be working closely with the Board of Directors to rebuild our programs including:

  • Providing opportunities for industry training and peer support;
  • Serving as a communication hub to connect our members and partners; and,
  • Advocating for housing opportunities at the local and state level.

We can’t succeed without you!

Friends, join me in supporting our vision of an Oregon where equitable access to resources and opportunity is the means to a healthy and economically vibrant peoples and communities. Thanks to our members who provided financial support this year either through donations and/or paying membership dues. I recognize we are behind in asking for renewals from many of you.

I and board members will be reaching out in the coming months to our member organizations to answer questions you may have, ask for your continued engagement and ideas about how Housing Oregon programs can best serve your organization, and for your ongoing support. We appreciate your patience as we rebuild as we have limited FTE capacity at this time – me.

Please share with me organizational successes, position openings, announcements and/or policy issues as we bring back a presence on social media. In the coming months I’ll be making an effort to meet with as many voting member organizations as possible with a focus on connecting with our rural members. In partnership,

Brian Hoop, Housing Oregon Director
