Nueva Esperanza / Bienestar

Nueva Esperanza, or “new hope,” was designed with the resiliency and strength of the Latinx migrant worker community at its heart. The 150-unit project in Hillsboro, is jointly developed by Bienestar, the long-term owner and operator, and Housing Development Center. The project consists of twelve residential buildings, a community building, and three outdoor plazas, or “colonias,” creating a neighborhood feel promoting community, relationship-building, and outdoor activity. Fifty-six units serve households at 30% AMI or below, and all units will serve households at 60% AMI. 106 of the units will be 2-bedroom or larger, including four 4-bedroom units. The community engagement process incorporated the racially and linguistically diverse Latinx and Somali communities.
