Description:
Transition Project Inc. (TPI), located in Portland, completed the first deeply affordable housing project using modular construction and LHTC funding to develop 72 units of housing in the Kenton neighborhood in March of 2020. The project, known as Argyle Gardens, sought to combine a co-housing concept with modular to drive down both the construction costs as well as future operating costs. The Team consisted of TPI, Housing Development Center, Holst Architecture, Walsh Construction, and MODS PDX. Over the course of the project the Team has diligently captured lessons learned from each of their perspectives. The Team will be sharing out the most relevant and critical to the success of modular as they relate to both the affordable housing industry, as well as the design/construction industry in general.
