Description:
Communities across the nation face a severe shortage of homes fueling an affordability crisis. Up for Growth research found that the U.S. fell 7.3 million homes short of meeting housing needs from 2000 – 2015 and Oregon accrued a shortage of 155,000 homes, representing 9% of the statewide housing stock, over that period. In the past several years, Oregon has become a national leader in passing local and statewide policies that eliminate barriers to housing. Please join Taylor Smiley Wolfe, Director of Policy and Planning with Home Forward, Allan Lazo, Executive Director of the Fair Housing Council of Oregon, and Josh Lehner, Economist with the State of Oregon for an interdisciplinary discussion with Mike Kingsella, Executive Director of Up for Growth, on how state and local pro-housing policies are critical for communities to advancing housing equity, improving affordability, and driving economic recovery.
